Hosted the James E. Stamps Awards Breakfast, April 14, 2018 at the Sinclair Community College. The DIAC recognized and celebrated two local stalwart supporters of Education and the leadership development with young people. They were Dr. Gladys Turner-Finney and Dr. Willie J. Washington. Each honoree shared their inspirational perspective on why Wilberforce University matters personally, historically, and professionally.
DIAC also partnered with churches in our community to honor the legacy of minority education. Churches were asked to make a contribution to UNCF as an investment in young people who are first in their families to attend college as an avenue to break the generational curse of poverty. The late Rev. Dr. Robert E. Jones (Huston-Tillotson University) chaired the initiative. The UNCF Sunday Program was held on April 29, 2018, at the St. Luke Baptist Church. The UNCF Sunday Program raised $3,050.00. On March 31, 2019, the UNCF Program was held at Dixon United Methodist Church and it raised $3,500.00.
